My thesis project at the department of Visual Communications, guided by Michal Bonano
Stolen Thyme is an illustrated collection of English folk songs about women, sung by women. Thyme stands for courage, and is associated with the twilight space between the familiar and the magical unknown - a space which exists in English folk song, but is almost unknown to its women protagonists. In this collection, thyme stands for the voice that has been stolen from women for centuries - a voice in which to sing their own stories. This collection, therefore, is an attempt to reclaim the stolen Thyme, and provide a fresh perspective over these songs that are still relevant today
